Mini Swap Meet/Hamfest Ideas
A few of the members in the group have been throwing around the idea of having a mini swapmeet/hamfest following breakfast on a Saturday. Being later in the year I was looking at places that could offer some protection from the changing ohio weather. I have contacted the City of Marysville for information about a park shelter. They would require an application that needs to be turned in at City Hall with payment at least 2 weeks in advance. On the City's website under events, you should see the calendar of dates and shelters that are available.
I also contacted the owner of the Uptown Steakhouse. He said they would love for us to have it there. They have a room that can seat 35 people and could put up some tables for the people to lay out their products on. If the Uptown Steakhouse can accomodate the event it would be rather convienant to have it in conjunction with the breakfast there. If the space the Uptown Steakhouse has to offer won't accomodate the number of people that may attend it or larger items people may have to bring, a park pavillion that is close to parking may be a better option.
Myself being a relatively new ham don't have a lot of extra stuff to get rid of. I would likely be one to buy something. I know there seems to be a good mix of new hams and seasoned hams in the group and with the Madison County Amateur Radio Club. That might make for a good recipe for a small swapmeet/hamfest. Just give it some thought and maybe we can talk about it on the Thursday night net sometime or over breakfast.
